Ending one break to start a new break

I have not posted in forever. I am ashamed at my lack of follow through. "Oh yea, I'm going to start blogging and post like every day." I do remember those words coming from me. But alas, I have failed.

But fear not, I will post more often.

I am determined to end this break in blogging by waiting to be released from work (hopefully early, like 3 or 4) to start my "winter break." I love how they call it "winter break" now to be fair to everyone. That is one of the many great things about working for a state university. Crazy long paid breaks. I am officially off from 12/23-12/31. That is 7, I say again SEVEN, full work days paid, that are not counted against my personal time off. We will be packing up some belongings and the pooch to drive down to Miami on Friday. I am very excited for the longer stay down there. The past bunch of times we have gone down has been for only a weekend. Not nearly enough time. Basically just Saturday and Sunday morning. Which blows. But we will have a whole 11 days to do what we like.

I have been alone most of the past 3 days in the office. Which has allowed me way too much time to play on the computer. I have spent most of today looking at wedding stuff. You guys will support me when I say it is totally fine for me to plan before the question has been popped. Yea, I knew you would agree. :)

I hope this gets to her!

Gizmodo.com featured this video in an article today. One of the sweetest stories I have heard. Pass it on, so it can get to her.

Food & Wine

We went to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot last weekend. It was amazing. Everything tasted so good. Here is the Menu.
I would have to say my top picks were:
Roasted Corn and Cheese Empanada - Argentina
Baked Cheese Ravioli, Creamy Bolognese Sauce, Melted Mozzarella - Italy
Kielbasa and Potato Pierogies with Caramelized Onions and Sour Cream - Poland
Bacardi Frozen Torched Cherry Colada - Puerto Rico

I wish we had taken more pictures, but we were so focused on the food it was hard. We are true foodies at heart. Can you tell?

weekend plans

I am very excited for this weekend. We are going to do it up right.

Here is the schedule:
Friday: Stay in with Lou and relax
Saturday: Food and Wine Festival at Epcot ^^
Sunday: Jax Fair and Jaguar game in the afternoon (I know they will lose but it is always fun to go to a live game)

I'm glad we are going to have a good weekend to make up for the depressing medical news I received yesterday.

Giveaway!

While enjoying my morning routine (reading all of the post from my fav bloggers), I found out that Sydney is doing her very first giveway. Yay Sydney!

The giveaway is for two items from Little Miss Momma. For the rules, visit The Daybook.

Also check out Little Miss Momma's etsy shop. She has some very cute items.

Good Luck!

Inspiration

Lately, I enjoyed reading some blogs by some interesting people. I stumbled upon a lil bird told me last week through a tip on lifehacker about folding plastic shopping bags into a triangle, making them easy to store and use when you need them. Handy tip. Through "a lil bird" I link-hopped my way to some other inspiring blogs.

Here is a short list:

These blogs have really brightened my boring days at work; Answering the phone and making a bazillion copies can only be so exciting. Ladies, you are special and bring a lot to the table.

Getting Back on the Wagon

I bought my very first sewing machine. Yay!

Before, I would always use my mother-in-law's. After moving 350 miles away, I no longer had a sewing machine at my disposal. So I scouted Craigslist (amazing what you find on there) and found one that was being sold for a reasonable price.

I have to say I could not have asked for a better story to be attached to the purchase of my second-hand sewing machine.

I bought it from a gay guy that was selling it because he was going to buy a newer one for fashion school. Love it. It was awesome. He had a salmon colored polo with the requisite popped collar and skin tight jeans that made me jealous. I got it for a steal and it seems like a good one. At least the reviews were pretty good.

The model I got is the Singer Confidence 7463. He sold it to me for a grand total of $30.00 and it looks like he may have used it once, maybe twice. He mentioned that he hadn't done a lot of sewing, mostly crocheting. O.o I have to say I am rather pleased.

Wide Awake

It is very late for me and I should go to bed, but I have two problems:

1. Lou is not here to cuddle with me in bed. So I don't want to go to bed because I know I will be lonely. :(
2. I have a TV series addiction. I can watch a whole season in one sitting, and if left to my own devices, I will (no questions asked).

That is what I have been doing for the past 3 hours. Watching Parks & Recreations. The show is a lot funnier than I had given it credit for. I am considering watching a few more episodes, but I understand I should crawl into our empty bed and fight my way to a fitful slumber.

Hump Day

My Lou has left for the next two days. I won't see him until Thursday. Very sad.
